|
Our mission: To enable women in all fields of accounting to achieve their personal, professional and economic potential; to contribute to the future development of the profession; and to establish a good fellowship among women members of the profession.
The Honolulu Chapter was formed in August 1958 and has since then grown to more than 100 members. Monthly Chapter meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month. These monthly meetings offer technical programs aimed at increasing the efficiency and accounting knowledge of our members and features distinguished speakers covering accounting subjects as well as topics in management, real estate, insurance, electronic data processing and taxes. Seminars, study sessions and plant tours supplement the regular meetings and provide opportunities for advanced study in specialized areas and usually qualify for continuing professional education credits. Community activities serve to enhance both our Society and Chapter's public image. Our Chapter is also represented at the Internal Revenue Service District Practitioners Liaison Group meetings bringing together representatives of the IRS and various accounting organizations. A public relations function is held annually to acquaint others with ASWA and our members. Representatives of organizations such as the Hawaii Society of Certified Public Accountants, Association of Government Accountants, the Institute of Management Accountants, the Hawaii Association of Public Accountants, Information System Audit and Control Association, and the Institute of Internal Auditors are among the invited guests. Our Chapter officers and directors meet on the first Tuesday of each month to conduct the business affairs of our Chapter.
